Letters and Reports are both generated through a very similar process in Doorways. Letters, when generated are saved to the Household History, and Output History tabs. Reports are not saved in these history rosters, and are separately stored templates from letters. Each category can be selected when launching the template walkthrough from either the Household page, Work Orders, Inspections (coming soon), Reports Center (coming soon), Waiting Lists. Household Letter and Report Generation

Generating a letter for a specific household is done directly from the Household Overview page. 

Generating a Letter/Report from the Household

  1. Navigate to the household you wish to generate a letter for.
  2. Click the Print link under the household name.
  3. The Generate Output Wizard will run.
  4. First, select the Template Type. (Ex: Letter, Report).
  5. Optionally, select the "tag" for the template you wish to find.
  6. Select the template you wish to generate for the household.
  7. Click the Next Button.
  8. If there are any merge fields that are not in the list of Doorways Supported Merge Fields or Custom Global Fields, they will appear in this step. Enter the value for each custom field as necessary.
  9. Click the Next Button.
  10. This step offers a preview of the template, including generation of all merge fields. If preview is correct, click "Next" button.
  11. A final preview will be shown, and the letter will be saved to the households letter history as well as the overall template generation history. From this step you can print or download a .pdf copy of the letter.
  12. Success! The template has successfully been generated.

Work Orders don't have to reference a household or unit, and in that case the report will not generate any merge fields that pertain to household/unit information. 

Generating a Letter/Report from a Work Order

(This is just an example of how to generate a report from a Work Order. You may also generate reports from the Aging Report, and Waiting List simply by clicking the print button usually found in the upper right hand corner of a page.)

Generating a letter or report must be done directly from an individual work order.
  1. Navigate to the Work Order you wish to generate a letter or report for.
  2. Click the "print" button.
  3. The Generate Output Wizard will run.
  4. Select the Template Type. (Ex: Letter, Report).
  5. Optionally, select the "tag" for the template you wish to find.
  6. Select the template you wish to generate for the household.
  7. Click the Next Button.
